Tangle A Day Calendar 2016

Good morning friends

I was so happy to find Carol Ohl's 'Tangle A Day 2016' calendar. I treated myself to it when we were visiting Arizona last November and when it arrived I was just in awe. Carol has added lots of her own art throughout the calendar and it's so inspiring!

Below is her cover:

And here is my first page. The outline for the numbers and each daily square is there for you to fill out as you wish. It's a little intimidating, but you know 'there are no mistakes in Zentangle' so I just jumped right in. The first square was divided up with a string, but then I decided to join the 2nd and 3rd squares with a string across both.

This is just so fun to do!! And I enjoy flipping back through it to see what tangles I used and how I shaded them etc. I'm not caught up for January yet as we were in Hawaii for part of it. I did bring tiles and my pen etc to do on the plane, but there just wasn't room for the calendar as well.

No pressure though, if I don't get to do it one day I know I'll catch up eventually. It's all part of the process.

Zentangle Tile #43

Good morning friends

This week, the challenge on the Square One: Purely Zentangle FB Group is to use the tangle 'Zonked'.

I was so happy to get a chance to play along! Zonked is a new tangle to me and I found it was trickier than it looked. Will play with it more for sure though.

Zentangle Tiles #2 and #3

Hello friends

Today I'd like to share my Zentangle tiles #2 and 3.

I am now keeping a little notebook to list the tangles used on my tiles, but the first couple of dozen I did not keep track. Some of the tangles I love and have used again and again; others were not so much.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Zentangle Tile #1

Good morning friends

While this tile was shared on my card blog (Altered Scrapbooking), I thought I would post it again here and keep everything Zentangle related in the same spot.

I wasn't nervous at all, starting my first tile ... I added the dots to the corners, drew the connecting lines, then added the string. Every time I draw a tangle, I see ways I can improve ... but I don't let that stop me from being satisfied when a tile is finished.

The hardest part for me, is adding my initials!

Tangles used:
Flying Geese
Sand Swirl

Pig Template, Zentangle Inspired Art

Good morning friends

I decided to start a new blog for my Zentangle and Zentangle Inspired Art, instead of trying to combine it with my cards.  I always feel that it looks like an after thought when I add a photo at the end of a card post and I certainly don't feel that way about Zentangle.

Before I actually started working on Zentangle tiles, I did a Zentangle Inspired Art piece (ZIA) when I picked up a new magazine while on a road trip in the US. The magazine, called DO! was their premier issue and there were some templates included from the amazingly talented Ben Kwok. I couldn't wait to get to a stop where I could pick up some pens and get started!

This is the piece that started me on my Zentangle journey...
